REWINDING ROLL MATERIALS
Rewinding adhesive tapes and films onto suitable cores
When rewinding, Krückemeyer transfers suitable adhesive tapes and films from the source roll onto an appropriate core or divides them into agreed running lengths. This makes the supplied roll suitable for your processing and intended use.
01
HOW REWINDING WORKS
Turning a source roll into the right wound format
Rewinding means transferring a suitable roll material from one roll to another under controlled conditions. The core and running length can be adapted to the required supply format. Suitable adhesive tapes or technical films supplied on master rolls are possible starting materials.
The roll needs to be practical for your process. The source material, required core, running length and type of further processing all matter. Krückemeyer assesses the proposed combination using these details. If the width must also change, slitting and rewinding is a separate processing method.
02
FROM YOUR ROLL REQUIREMENT TO THE FINISHED FORMAT
Step 01
Describe your requirements
Tell us the source material, application, desired core and running length, and how you plan to process the roll.
Step 02
Assess the material and roll
We check whether the material construction, windability, core and required format work together.
Step 03
Agree the format
We agree the core, running length and handling for your application; a sample can support this discussion if needed.
Step 04
Produce the roll
Once the format is agreed, the suitable material is rewound onto the specified roll and prepared for further processing.

WHAT REWINDING TASK DO YOU HAVE?
Rewind onto a different core
Roll material is transferred onto a core suited to the application. We assess the material, core and wound format together. Enquire about cores →
Agree a running length
The source roll is turned into rolls with the agreed running length. The target length depends on the material, core and planned handling. Enquire about roll length →04
POSSIBLE SUPPLY FORMATS
A roll for your process
The wound roll is designed around the agreed core and required running length. Material suitability is assessed for each request. Enquire about roll formats →
Log rolls as source material
Where suitable, a longer wound log roll can be supplied for further converting. A log roll is distinct from a finished adhesive tape roll.05
ASSESS THE SOURCE MATERIAL
Adhesive tapes
Suitable single-sided and double-sided adhesive tapes can be rewound as roll material. The backing, adhesive layer and liner matter when assessing them. Adhesive tape converting →
Technical films
Suitable technical films can be processed as roll material. Their windability and the required roll format need to be assessed first. Film converting →06

WHAT MATTERS WHEN CHOOSING A METHOD
| Requirement | Possible format | What to assess |
|---|---|---|
| Core | Rewind onto a suitable core | Source material, core type and processing |
| Running length | Roll with an agreed running length | Material, windability and handling |
| Width and running length | Slitting and rewinding as a separate method | Required width, running length and material |
We assess whether the combination suits your application.

DETAILS FOR YOUR REWINDING ENQUIRY
Describe the application and the result you need. Tell us the source material or the adhesive tape or film you already use, the current and desired core, and the required running length. The roll width, intended processing method and required quantity also help us assess the request.
If available, include a drawing, a sample or details of the liner and material construction. Krückemeyer can then check whether rewinding alone is sufficient or whether another processing step would be useful.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT REWINDING
What does rewinding mean for adhesive tapes and films?
Rewinding transfers suitable roll material from a source roll onto another roll under controlled conditions. The core and running length can then be adapted to the planned processing method. Whether a particular combination works depends on the material construction, core and required supply format.
Can Krückemeyer rewind my material onto another core?
Yes. Changing the core is one of the rewinding options described here. We assess whether the desired core suits your source material and intended application for each request. Please tell us both the existing and desired core, along with the material and roll details.
When is slitting and rewinding preferable to rewinding alone?
Slitting and rewinding is the relevant method when the roll width must change as well as the running length. It combines rewinding with cutting. The source material, required width, running length and core guide the choice; feasibility depends on the material and final format.
Which materials can be considered for rewinding?
Suitable adhesive tapes and technical films can be considered as roll materials. The specific construction must be windable. A material name alone does not confirm that every format is feasible. Please provide details of the material, backing, liner, core and required supply format.
Enquire about rewinding for your process
Send us the source material, desired core and required running length. We will assess a suitable wound format for your application.
